A few words about our company

TRANSGEX was founded by dismantling and reorganizing the Department for Rare Metals on January 1, 1959 in Ştei, Bihor County.
During 1959-1990 the company deploys research activities throughout the country. The core responsibility includes the accumulation of radioactive mineralization sources as well as other rare metals.
The year 1991 brings with it the founding of TRANSGEX S.A. Cluj (through taking over of the patrimony of I.P.E.G. Cluj), while the privatization of the company takes place in 2000. Meanwhile, prospecting work is concentrated in the northern half of Transylvania and in the Western Romanian Plain.
At the moment our company is holding a portfolio of exploitation and exploration concession licenses covering 19 hydro geothermal perimeters, as follows:

  • 14 exploitation and exploration concession licenses for geothermal waters in the perimeters: Oradea, Săcueni, Marghita, Borş, Beiuş, Livada, Aleşd, Sânnicolau de Munte, Balc, Chişlaz, Cighid, Mădăras (Bihor county) and Tăşnad, Acâş – Beltiug (Satu Mare county)
  • 5 exploitation and exploration concession licenses for experimental exploitation for geothermal waters in the perimeters: Beiuş-Delani, Salonta, Ciumeghiu, Sântion (Bihor county) and Săcăşeni (Satu Mare county)

TRANSGEX is Romania’s largest company involved in the work of prospecting, exploration and exploitation of geothermal water deposits, having under concession approx. 60% of these resources. Our company operates according to Romanian laws, being accredited for executing activities regarding geological research and exploitation of groundwater through the Certificate of Attestation Nr.1726 / 24.02.2016 issued by the National Agency for Mineral Resources.
TRANSGEX pursues objectives like:

  • highlighting deposits of geothermal water due to drilling works (prospecting, exploration)
  • exploitation of geothermal water and capitalization of production in the form of volume, thermal energy and hot domestic water
  • thermal energy conversion into electricity
  • works of mine closures
  • small and deep wells
  • use of heat pumps to extract energy from geothermal waters in the second stage of use
  • installation of pipelines for geothermal water transport and geothermal thermal units
  • vegetable crops in greenhouses
